âYou will not be eligible for readmission to the ACFE due to your failure to report a felony conviction.â â Jacob Parks, J.D., CFE, ACFE General Counsel, Oct 18, 2018
Thatâs the line that ended my membership in the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) â based on a felony conviction that didnât exist.
Meanwhile, another Canadian was being honoured with the ACFEâs highest award, the Cressey Award â for a âlifetime of achievement in fraud detection and deterrence.â
That man? Martin Kenney â the brother of Jason Kenney, former Premier of Alberta and longtime federal Conservative MP.
đ€ Who is Martin Kenney?
Martin Kenney is one of the worldâs leading asset recovery lawyers, specializing in multi-jurisdictional economic crime and international serious fraud. He has acted for international banks, insurance companies, investors, and governmental institutions.
Based in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Martin is the founder and Head of Firm at MKS Law (formerly Martin Kenney & Co). WIRED magazine once called his firm one of âthe worldâs sharpest fraudbusters.â
His work focuses on cross-border insolvency, creditorsâ rights, and complex commercial litigation. He is widely regarded as a pioneer in using pre-emptive legal remedies, multi-disciplinary teams, and professional litigation funding to combat global economic crime â often uprooting bank secrets and freezing hidden assets worldwide.
Martin is a practising solicitor advocate in England and Wales, the BVI, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and a licensed foreign legal consultant in New York.
He also serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Central Lancashire (“UCLan”) School of Law and Policing in the UK and is consistently ranked among the worldâs top asset recovery lawyers by Chambers and Partners and Lexologyâs âGlobal Eliteâ Thought Leaders Index.
đ§ââïž Who is Jason Kenney?
Jason Thomas Kenney is one of the most recognizable and polarizing figures in modern Canadian politics. Born in 1968 in Oakville, Ontario, and raised partly in Saskatchewan, Kenney rose through the ranks of federal politics before becoming Premier of Alberta from 2019 to 2022. His political influence, however, extends far beyond his time in office â and his name is often tied to the web of Conservative power that still shapes much of Canada’s political, financial, and judicial landscape today.
đ From Ottawa Power Broker to Albertaâs Premier
Kenney spent nearly two decades in federal politics, first elected in 1997 under the Reform Party banner before becoming one of Prime Minister Stephen Harperâs top cabinet ministers. He served as Minister of Immigration, Multiculturalism, Employment, and eventually Defence. Known as a tireless organizer, Kenney was often referred to as âHarperâs bulldogâ â a political operative capable of mobilizing voters, crushing opposition, and commanding loyalty.
In 2017, after the Alberta NDP unseated the long-ruling PCs, Kenney returned to provincial politics with a mission: unite the right. He successfully merged Albertaâs Progressive Conservatives and Wildrose Party into the United Conservative Party (UCP) and swept to power in 2019.
𧚠A Divisive Premiership â and a Rapid Fall
Kenney’s premiership was marked by aggressive deregulation, deep corporate tax cuts, an all-out war on environmental and federal oversight (“Ottawa overreach”), and harsh pandemic measures that alienated parts of his own base.
He launched Alberta’s âwar roomâ â the Canadian Energy Centre â and led legal challenges against the federal carbon tax, Bill Câ69, and more. But internal party fractures, public fatigue, and backlash over his handling of COVID-19 saw his popularity crater. He was forced out by his own party in 2022.
đ§ The Inner Circle: Harper, Ambrose, Kenney
In Right Here, Right Now: Politics and Leadership in the Age of Disruption, former Prime Minister Stephen Harper recounts watching the shocking 2016 U.S. election â when Donald Trump was elected â from his Calgary home, sitting with Rona Ambrose and Jason Kenney.
Yes â thatâs Harper, Ambrose, and Kenney all in one room, watching the geopolitical landscape shift, and no doubt, discussing how to position Canadian conservatism in a world being reshaped by populist, anti-establishment sentiment.
I read that part myself. So can you â itâs in the book.
That scene, casual as it may appear, speaks volumes: this is not just a political class. Itâs a network. These are insiders with deep ties to corporate boards, media outlets, law firms, professional regulators, and â as Iâve shown in this blog â asset recovery lawyers based in offshore jurisdictions like the BVI.
đ Whatâs Jason Kenney Doing Now?
As of 2025, Kenney holds advisory roles with corporate boards and sits at a law firm office in Calgary’s Bankers Hall, where he gives media interviews and weighs in on hot-button political issues â most recently Albertaâs sovereignty and the rising separatist undercurrent.
When asked about a proposed referendum on Alberta separation, Kenney dismissed the idea as âhistorically discreditedâ and âdriven by a pocket of malcontents.â
âItâs bananas if we allow a tiny, perennially angry minority to drag the whole province through a deeply divisive debate,â he told The Canadian Press in September 2025.
He warned that such a referendum could “divide families,” “break up businesses,” and “shred the social fabric.” Strong words from someone who oversaw some of the most divisive policies in recent Alberta history.
đŹ Public Backlash Is Still Fierce
Jason Kenney remains a deeply controversial figure.
@erik_thorvalds: âJason Kenney is out for revenge. He was supposed to be king of his little satrapy in Alberta⊠We took that from him. Because he is a disgrace.â
@ghost1144: âJason Kenney now sits on the board for #PostMedia⊠a destructive force in #Canada. We shouldn’t be subsidizing media that’s undermining sovereignty.â
@MakisMedicine: âJason Kenney⊠was the biggest persecutor of Christians and Christian pastors in the Western World during COVID-19.â
@UthredV: âKenney would serve himself better by just shutting up and moving into the obscurity.â
Heâs also now associated with PostMedia, a media conglomerate some critics allege is being used to shape public narrative and discredit dissent â particularly whistleblowers, critics of the RCMP, and those who oppose Albertaâs corporate-political complex.
đ Why This Matters
When you understand who Jason Kenney is â and who his brother Martin Kenney is â you start to see the layers of protection, power, and privilege that shield those involved in high-level fraud, corruption, and cover-ups.
Jason: Political power. Premier. Cabinet Minister.
Martin: Offshore legal authority. Global fraud fighter.
Both: Intimately tied to the same elite circles that have the power to bury investigations, control narratives, and criminalize whistleblowers like me.
Iâll leave it there â for now.
But now you know who Jason Kenney really is.
And now you know why I wouldnât stay silent.
đšđŠ A Tale of Two Kenneys
MARTIN KENNEY
JASON KENNEY
Martin Kenney is, on paper, one of the worldâs most respected fraud lawyers. He runs MKS Law in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) â a jurisdiction infamous for offshore secrecy, tax avoidance, and yes⊠fraud.
In 2014, Kenney received the Cressey Award from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) â the organizationâs highest global honour for lifetime achievement in fraud detection. đ View the award on ACFEâs website
By 2022, he was appointed a Visiting Professor at the University of Lancashire (“UCLan”) in Preston, England, mentoring students on how to fight economic crime â while his firm in Tortola was hiring graduates from elite UK enforcement programs.
Meanwhile, I â a Canadian professional geologist and fraud whistleblower â was being smeared, criminalized, and banned for life by the very same ACFE. My “crime”? Exposing a real $100 million mining fraud that Martin Kenney himself had been informed about.
I was an ACFE member, studying for my Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation
I submitted a clean criminal record check, as required for membership
I was banned based on a fabricated âfelony convictionâ that doesnât exist
The ACFEâs own legal counsel, Jacob Parks, tried to pressure me to falsely confess
And they refused to publish any of this in Fraud Magazine, effectively covering it up
While I was being erased, Martin Kenney â who knew about the $100M fraud as early as 2016 â was elevated.
đ Letâs Talk Geography
In November 2016, I had a conference call with Martin Kenney and his team, including ex-Scotland Yard investigators. I was seeking help to recover funds â not just for me, but for other victims: doctors and dentists in Calgary and Edmonton, and high-net-worth U.S. investors, some of whom had familial ties to U.S. Presidents.
I proposed filing a Notice of Arbitration in the BVI, a move that could have exposed everything. But instead of assisting, they disengaged.
Want to know just how close this fraud was to Martinâs office?
Iâve attached two screenshots below of a walking map of Road Town, Tortola. The blue dotted line? Thatâs the walking route from Martin Kenneyâs law firm to the former registered address of the $100 million mining fraud.
đșïž Distance: 2.5 km â about a 35-minute walk.
đFrom: Flemming House (MKS Law) đTo: TMF Place (mining fraud HQ)
Here are the maps:
[Map 1: Island View]
[Map 2: Road Town Zoomed-In]
Let that sink in.
So let me ask you:
How does Martin Kenney get awards and professorships from the ACFE, when he was aware of a $100M fraud just down the street from his own office?
How do I get banned for life, while he gets booked to mentor the next generation of financial investigators?
What does that say about Martin Kenney? What does that say about the ACFE?
This isnât just irony. Itâs proof that fraud fighters protect their own â and bury the real whistleblowers.
đ„ The $100 Million Mining Fraud Covered Up in Alberta and the BVI – How Premier Jason Kenney in Alberta and His Brother Martin Kenney in the BVI Let It All Slide
In 2014â2015, the RCMP Integrated Market Enforcement Team (IMET) and the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) were investigating a $100M mining fraud tied to corporate entities based out of Road Town, Tortola, BVI â the same town where Martin Kenneyâs law firm is located.
I was a shareholder, and my own company, EmerEx, was taken hostage by that very fraud.
In November 2016, I had a conference call with Martin Kenney and his team (which included ex-UK and Scotland Yard officers) to see if they would help me recover the stolen money â not just for myself, but for doctors, dentists, and high-profile U.S. investors, including people with ties to former U.S. Presidents.
They were interested. Then they went quiet.
Martin Kenney knew about this fraud. His law office was just 9 minutes on foot from the registered address of the shell company behind it â both nestled in Road Town.
â ïž In fact, the BVI Arbitration Centre, where I considered filing a Notice of Arbitration to stop the fraud, is even closer â just a 5-minute walk from Martinâs firm. (đMap coming soon in this thread.)
đ The BVI Notice of Arbitration â A Threat Disguised as Legal Process
Let me take a moment to show you just how egregious and fraudulent this whole ordeal was â not just in content, but in structure and location.
After I started speaking out about the $100 million mining fraud I had uncovered, I was served with a Notice of Arbitration on March 17, 2016, via email. You can see the redacted copy here:
The letter â sent from an offshore shell company using Palm Grove House, Road Town, Tortola, BVI as its corporate address â alleged that I had:
Disclosed confidential information
Acted in bad faith toward the company and shareholders
Damaged capital raising activities
Breached the shareholdersâ agreement (SHA)
They demanded maximum allowable damages and threatened to file for arbitration in the British Virgin Islands to recover from me personally â including going after my house, savings, and even future income. It was meant to destroy me.
But hereâs where it gets downright absurdâŠ
The Notice of Arbitration didnât just accuse me of breaching some contract â it literally stated they were coming after my house, my life savings, and even my future income. Like WITAF!!!!
Like⊠WTF?! How is that even real?
They werenât seeking justice. They were coming to take everything â through a bogus legal process in a jurisdiction that didnât even have an arbitration centre at the time.
You canât make this stuff up.
đïž The BVI Arbitration Office Didnât Exist Yet
The Notice demanded arbitration proceedings in Road Town, BVI.
But guess what? The BVI International Arbitration Centre (BVI IAC) didnât even exist at the time.
The Centre wasnât formally launched until November 2017 â more than a year after this letter was sent. You literally canât make this up. They were threatening me with arbitration in a legal venue that didnât exist.
So what was this really? A legal document? No. It was an intimidation tool â designed to force silence and submission, weaponized through international jurisdiction shopping and fake legal optics.
March 2016: The Arbitration Threat and Easter Saturday RCMP Raid
đ§ââïž A Legal Threat from the BVI
On March 17, 2016, I was served â via email â with a Notice of Arbitration from the directors of what I now refer to as the $100 million mining fraud. The demand letter, sent from Palm Grove House, Road Town, Tortola, BVI, accused me of breaching the Shareholders’ Agreement (SHA) and sought:
Damages in the maximum allowable amount
Injunctive relief
Personal liability for âdisclosing confidential information,â âacting in bad faith,â and âharming capital raising effortsâ
They even claimed they would file for arbitration in the British Virgin Islands, despite the fact that â and this is crucial â the BVI International Arbitration Centre did not exist at that time.
đ The Centre wouldnât launch until late 2017. đĄ So they were threatening me with an arbitration process that literally had no seat of power or standing in law at the time.
It was a fraudulent legal scare tactic designed to silence me, bleed me of resources, and make me disappear.
đ The Easter Saturday RCMP Raid – Easter Saturday March 26, 2016
đš The Smoking Gun: Brett Turnerâs Email
Thanks to delayed access to RCMP communications â delayed for obvious reasons, as youâll soon see â I eventually obtained this March 26, 2016 email from Cpl. Brett Turner through an ATIP request. It was written just minutes after he left my home, where he had threatened me with imminent arrest.
The email was sent to several RCMP members, including Brent Kriwokon (more on him coming soon â letâs just say heâs no longer with the RCMP either, but now works for the Alberta Government⊠investigating cows. đ Yeah. Thatâs where this country is at. You seriously canât make this stuff up.)
Here are some of the most egregious quotes:
âToday I attended the residence of [REDACTED] and had a lengthy discussion with him regarding his recent emails and posts online.â
âHe was advised that his current path is leading him toward being charged criminally.â
âA criminal harassment complaint has begun⊠no further communication is allowed with either of you.â
âAny communication to either of you⊠will bolster our case of criminal harassment.â
âIn order to proceed with an extortion charge, I will need him to post something very direct⊠Anything ambiguous⊠will not assist my investigation.â
Translation? Turner didnât have a case â he was trying to manufacture one. He demanded a confession without a crime, and even admitted in writing that nothing I had said yet met the threshold for extortion. He was waiting â hoping â that Iâd slip up.
He even whitewashed the record. Unlike redacted documents with black bars, the version I received had names and allegations scrubbed completely â like someone used Liquid Paper to erase the truth.
Thatâs not policing. Thatâs a dirty op.
Here is a redacted copy of that email just in case you cant believe it!! I show receipts!!
𧔠âBrett Turner: The Corrupt and Traumatized RCMP Officer Who Tried to Silence Meâ đ Read the full post here
In that post, I cover:
The Easter Saturday raid
Turnerâs whitewashing of RCMP records
His online harassment campaign in 2024
How he violated his RCMP oath by sharing confidential investigation info
And how the CRCC refused to investigate him in 2025, claiming he was âno longer under jurisdictionâ
The man who tried to paint me as a criminal was never held accountable. He was protected by the RCMP while in uniform. Then abandoned his oath and returned from âretirementâ to stalk me online years later â still desperate to bury what I know.
“This wasnât law enforcement. This was reputation assassination on behalf of criminals with political protection.“
“And Brett Turner was their blunt instrument.“
đ§ââïž Speaking of Blunt instruments: Enter Martin Kenney â And the Silence That Followed
After receiving the fraudulent Notice of Arbitration on March 17, 2016, as I explained I was threatened with arrest by the RCMP just nine days later â on Easter Saturday, March 26, 2016. That arrest threat, as I later confirmed, stemmed from a complaint made by one of the directors of the $100 million mining fraud I was exposing.
What followed was a coordinated legal assault â or what many now call lawfare. Over the ensuing months, I was dragged through the courts in both Alberta and British Columbia, hit with baseless civil actions and intimidation tactics designed to overwhelm, silence, and discredit me. And this campaign has never really stopped â it continues to this day.
Amid the chaos, I turned to someone I believed could help.
I contacted Martin Kenney â the ACFE Cressey Award recipient, globally recognized âfraud recovery expert,â and head of MKS Law, located in Road Town, Tortola, BVI â just minutes away from where the arbitration threat had originated.
I explained everything:
The shell company structure behind the fraud
The bogus arbitration threat (filed before the BVI Arbitration Centre even existed)
The RCMP threats and fabricated criminal allegations
The broader money laundering and offshore scheme hiding in plain sight
Kenneyâs team listened.
And then?
They disappeared. No follow-up. No support. No response. Just silence â the kind that speaks louder than words.
The irony?
đč Martin Kenneyâs office was just 2.5 km â a 35-minute walk from Palm Grove House, the BVI address where the Notice of Arbitration originated
đč He knew the players, understood the tactics, and had the legal power to act
đč And yet, he did nothing
Martin Kenney could have helped expose one of the most egregious financial scams of the decade. Instead, he walked away.
And the people behind that scam kept coming â with lawfare, with smear campaigns, and with help from corrupted RCMP officers like Brett Turner.
âAsk YourselfâŠ
Why would Martin Kenney â supposedly one of the worldâs top anti-fraud lawyers â walk away from a case thatâs textbook offshore fraud?
Why would the ACFE give him their top award, while banning me for life on a fabricated felony?
Why would RCMP Cpl. Brett Turner threaten me with arrest days after the legal threat from the BVI â only to later disappear, then re-emerge years later to harass me again online?
Because I wasnât just exposing the fraud. I was exposing the fraud fighters. And they didnât like that.
đșïž The Proximity: You Canât Make This Up
Now consider thisâŠ
Martin Kenneyâs law firm is located in Flemming House, Road Town, Tortola. The company that issued the Notice of Arbitration was based at Palm Grove House, Road Town, Tortola â the exact address shown on the letterhead above.
đșïž Thatâs just 2.5 km apart â a 35-minute walk, as proven by the walking map Iâve attached earlier in this blog.
So not only did Martin Kenney know about this fraudulent arbitration threat… It was being made from a shell entity right down the road from his office â in the same jurisdiction he built his reputation protecting victims of economic crime.
đš So Let Me Ask Again…
Why did Martin Kenney â the man celebrated for âexposing international fraudâ â do nothing when this exact fraud was brought to his attention?
Why did the ACFE, who awarded him their highest honour, ban me â the whistleblower â for life, while letting him mentor the next generation of âfraud fightersâ?
And how can any of this be viewed as anything other than a rigged system â one that protects power and punishes truth?
This wasnât a legal battle. It was a coordinated attack.
An attack I survived â but one Iâll never stop exposing.
đ One of Us Got Awards. One Got Erased.
At the same time Martin was being awarded by the ACFE, I was trying to finish my CFE designation and had just launched ForensicGeo â a fraud investigation firm focused on mining and oil & gas (sectors Iâd worked in and helped build from the ground up).
Then I got hit.
In October 2018, I received this email from the ACFEâs Global General Counsel, Jacob Parks:
âYou will not be eligible for readmission to the ACFE due to your failure to report a felony conviction when applying for membership.â
Except⊠there was no felony conviction. No trial. No process. No complaint was ever published in Fraud Magazine â despite that being standard practice. I was just⊠wiped from the books.
Meanwhile, Martin Kenney â who knew about the very same fraud I tried to expose â was awarded, elevated, and celebrated.
đźââïž Then Came the Calgary Police
Shortly after launching ForensicGeo, I was contacted by Cst. Flynn of the Calgary Police, who informed me of a criminal complaint against me: Harassment and threats, allegedly against Debbie Kunert, Executive Director of the CFA Society Calgary.
The kicker? đč The former President of the CFA Society was the second-largest shareholder in the $100M fraud. đč The CFO of the fraudulent company? Also a CFA charterholder.
The case went nowhere. But ForensicGeo was derailed for over 6 months, and the smear stuck.
Soon after, both Cst. Flynn and Chief Roger Chaffin were gone from the force.
Coincidence? Maybe. Pattern? Definitely.
đ What Are the Odds?
Martin Kenneyâs firm: 3rd Floor, Flemming House, Road Town, Tortola
Mining Fraud HQ: TMF Place, Road Town, Tortola
BVI Arbitration Centre: 5 minutes from MKS Law
đŹ I approached Martin Kenney for help. He declined. Then he got awards. I got blacklisted.
đ€ So Ask YourselfâŠ
Why did the ACFE ban me for life on fabricated felony charges â while awarding their highest honour to Martin Kenney, who sat just minutes away from the very fraud I tried to expose?
Why did the RCMP bury the investigation, even after confirming that one of the fraudâs directors was an economic advisor to both Stephen Harper and Justin Trudeau?
And how does all of this tie back to Jason Kenney, the Premier of Alberta at the time â and Martinâs brother?
This wasnât just a one-off. This wasnât a misunderstanding.
This was a coordinated cover-up involving:
A $100 million international mining fraud
Shell corporations in the British Virgin Islands
Political protection at the highest levels
Lawfare in Alberta and British Columbia
Threats of arrest
An RCMP officer (Brett Turner) running interference
And the global anti-fraud industry turning a blind eye
I brought this case to Martin Kenneyâs doorstep. I brought it to the ACFE. I brought it to the RCMP.
And what did I get in return?
đ« A fake felony đ« A lifetime ban đ« A tactical raid at my home đ« A global smear campaign đ« Silence from the very people who claim to fight corruption
𧚠I was the whistleblower.
He was the âfraud fighter.â Only one of us was telling the truth.
Youâve just read Part I.
đ Stay tuned for Part II, where I expose the next layer of this web â the names, the networks, the financial trails, and the political fallout they never thought would surface.
đ Bonus Irony: When the Fraud Fighters Write About Fraud… While Ignoring It Next Door
As if this story couldnât get any more absurd â hereâs a cherry on top.
In October 2015, just five months before I received the bogus Notice of Arbitration in the BVI, Martin Kenney himself wrote a piece for ACFE’s Fraud Magazine, titled:
The same Martin Kenney who later ignored my whistleblower plea about a $100 million offshore fraud operating out of Road Town, Tortola â just minutes from his office â published an article about the importance of due diligence and catching fraudsters early.
Let me quote him directly:
âWe utilize all of the regular web and Internet search systems â online profiles, their presence on social media, links to causes, organizations or online associations, etc. â to identify a high-risk individual. There’s no way that we would have missed somebody like Mr. Rojo Filho.â
Yet somehow⊠they missed me? Or worse â they saw me and chose to walk away.
Kenney even criticizes banks for failing to do a simple Google search on known fraudsters:
âIf the banks had just Googled this guy, they would have known enough to stay away.â
But when I laid out an actual, active fraud with corporate documents, registered addresses, a fake arbitration, and RCMP threats to back it up?
Silence.
Martin Kenney was too busy writing fraud columns for ACFE while standing a 35-minute walk from the fraud he was being asked to expose â and doing nothing about it.
So let me leave you with this:
The man who was awarded the Cressey Award for fraud detection… Ignored a $100 million fraud in his own backyard.
The man who was banned from the ACFE⊠Is the only one who tried to stop it.
If that doesnât say everything you need to know about the ACFE, Martin Kenney, and the system they represent, I donât know what does.
and the awards keep coming here is another for his firm in 2024 ffs:
đ Stay tuned for Part II, where this story gets even deeper. We havenât even scratched the surface.
